One barrier to a deep, personal connection with listeners is assuming they show up for information.
PSA: They don’t.
One barrier to a deep, personal connection with listeners is assuming they show up for information.
Pastors love to “teach.” And yes, information is crucial. But knowledge alone isn’t the end.
Most people don’t attend on Sundays to hear a lecture.
Yes, some love taking notes. And that is fine.
But the goal is not for pen to land on paper but for grace to impact the heart.
Folks shouldn’t be told to leave their “worldly concerns” behind when they worship.
Instead, they should bring their worries, frustrations, fears, concerns, failures — everything.
Because those are the precise things we’ll talk about — in the context of the biblical information.
Informed minds + changed lives — all connected to the cross of the risen Jesus.
This is holistic preaching, where the sermonic model uses the full, 4-strand DNA of the gospel story (not just a handful of teaching points) to show how real, practical change is possible.
Holistic preaching doesn’t merely deliver content.
- It’s not about crafting clever outlines.
- It’s preaching that engages the whole person — head, heart, and hands.
Holistic preaching…
- connects truth to emotion,
- weaves theology with story, and
- moves conviction into action.
This kind of preaching doesn’t stop at exegesis. It dives into real, practical, rubber-hits-the-road life issues.
Remember, it’s not just about information, but transformation.
To preach like this, you need three things.
- A revised philosophy that aims for heart transformation, not just information delivery.
- A sermon prep system designed to take a sermon from the text to the heart, to the cross, to new life in the Spirit.
- A trusted, experienced guide who can help you integrate the philosophy with the system.
Imagine connecting so personally and deeply when you preach that you begin to see gospel transformation grow on the vine?
That’s what I want.
I bet you do, too.
When you’re ready, I put together a simple (newly updated) Google doc that explains more.
