Maybe My Love for Jesus is Lukewarm Because I Think His Love for Me is Lukewarm.

In Revelation 3:15–16, the church at Laodicea received a word of warning from the Lord,

“15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

The Laodiceans were religious. They went to church regularly and did a lot of ministry activities. But they didn’t really love Jesus. Their affections were room temperature. Not hot nor cold. They were indifferent.

Nobody orders room temperature coffee. No spouse wants to settle for lukewarm indifference in their marriage. It is the same with a love for Jesus.

Even as a pastor, I confess to having a lukewarm love for Jesus on numerous occasions. Maybe you are lukewarm now. If so, what can you do?

What I have learned is that moving from lukewarm to hot is not something you can do.
