I get to preach tomorrow.
But I feel the pull
The pull to preach for approval and applause.
I bet you can relate.
A silent hope that someone will say, “That was amazing.”
But deep down, I know…
Preaching isn’t about impressing people with my work.
But inspiring people with the work of Jesus.
I don’t need to shine.
I just need to speak — trusting the Spirit to shine, making the grace of God in Jesus as clear and beautiful and transformative as possible.
For his glory.
And the good of those who hear.
That’s what I really want.
So, let’s preach with freedom, joy, and anticipation.
Not for approval, but from the approval we already have in Jesus.
